Texas Home Visiting-Hays County

Helping your child learn and grow is a big job. It is very exciting but often hard, too. Every mom, dad, and family can use some support.

Texas Home Visiting-Hays County is a free program offered to ALL families with children, birth to age five, and pregnant women in four communities of Hays County: Buda, Kyle, San Marcos and Wimberley.

Home visiting is perfect if you are:

  • In need of support during your pregnancy or with raising your toddler,
  • In need of support getting your children ready for kindergarten,
  • Expecting a child,
  • The guardian of children who have not yet started kindergarten and include grandparents, aunts, uncles, foster parents, and other caregivers,
  • In the military,
  • In need of help reuniting as a family after being apart because of deportation, incarceration or any other reasons,
  • Married or single father who wants to be a better parent.

Texas Home Visiting-Hays County is using the Parents as Teachers, or PAT, curriculum to provide bi-weekly, 60-minute home visits for your family focused on supporting you to be a great parent. Together, you and your Parent Educator plan activities to do with your child(ren) during home visits, learn about child development and provide you with parenting support. PAT is an ideal curriculum for any family expecting a child or with children up to kindergarten entry (age 5). Your Parent Educator is a friendly, experienced person who can answer questions about pregnancy or being a great parent to your baby, toddler, or preschooler and can help you find services that help you care for yourself and your children. Once a month, you and your child will meet with other children and parents at a group connection event hosted by your Parent Educator. The purpose of these socialization activities is to encourage peer group interaction through age appropriate activities in a classroom, community facility, or on a field trip.

Texas Home Visiting-Hays County supports you, from pregnancy until the time your child enters kindergarten, and helps you set and reach goals for yourself and your children. Like us on Facebook!
