UTILITY ASSISTANCE

Funding for 2017 will be available starting February 1, 2017 – applications now available.

For all new and returning clients, a 2017 Application for Services must be completed and returned with all required documentation before the application can be processed. Appointments will be scheduled as needed.

2017 Application for Services

Community Action, Inc. of Central Texas announces the availability of funding for the Comprehensive Energy Assistance Program (C.E.A.P.) provided by the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs.  Funds will be available to assist qualified families in Hays, Caldwell, and Blanco Counties with their electric, butane, propane, and natural gas bills.

2017 Utility Assistance Client Survey

CEAP (Comprehensive Energy Assistance Program)

  • Primary program for energy assistance
  • Available for residents of Hays, Caldwell, and Blanco counties
  • Services include energy education, needs assessment, budget counseling, utility payment assistance, and crisis-related purchase of portable heating and cooling units
  • Priority given to low income households with high energy use, a high energy burden, or the presence of a child (age 5 or under), disabled, elderly individuals, or veterans
  • Completed application with documentation is required

San Marcos Electric Utility (SMEU)

  • Funded by the City of San Marcos for San Marcos Electric Utility customers only
  • Customers must be low-income families, elderly on a fixed income, or disabled on a fixed income
  • Assistance includes payment of electric and water/wastewater portions of one month’s utility bill
  • Assistance available twice a year, but no more than once every 6 months
  • Completed application with documentation is required
  • Program Year: October – September

Pedernales Electric Cooperative MAP Funds

  • Funded by PEC for PEC customers only – Hays, Caldwell, and Blanco Counties
  • Income eligibility requirements: at or below 250% of the Federal Poverty Income Guidelines
  • Assistance includes payment of electric usage only
  • Maximum assistance of $300 annually per household
  • Completed application with documentation is required
  • Program Year: January – December
