2014 Marked the 15th anniversary of the Hill Country Ride for AIDS. Community Action, one of 10 beneficiaries in this year’s ride, has been a beneficiary for all 15 of those years. HIV case managers from Community Action’s Rural AIDS Services Program (RASP) participate every year, either by riding or volunteering the day of the event. This year the RASP team also hosted five luncheons, with all of the money raised going to the RASP team. The total money Community Action received from the Hill Country Ride for AIDS was $23,286.46!
The money raised in the ride is used for the purchase of items for clients that are not covered by the contracts. In the past, those purchases have included lifesaving medications, medical supplies, rent, utilities, therapy, and moving expenses for elderly clients.
Our thanks go out to everyone involved in the ride, as well as those who purchased a lunch, donated food or paper goods, or volunteered their time by helping to cook and serve!
